Hello, we are Little Favour
A husband and wife with two small children, tired of getting of getting throwaway party bag tat that nobody wanted.
We started Little Favour after one too many birthday parties. Our two came home with the same bags every time: a handful of things that broke before bedtime, a few sweets, and a lot of plastic that went straight in the bin. We had also spent hours trying to put together something better ourselves, which turned out to be surprisingly hard and surprisingly expensive.
So we made the thing we wanted. Party bags you fill yourself, from a short list of things worth keeping: puzzle books, colouring pencils, bamboo flyers and bird whistles, seed paper you can plant. Paper, card, wood and bamboo, chosen because they are pleasant to hold and because we are happy for them to end up in our own house.
What we will not do
We do not pad bags out. Every item is one we would give our own children, and you choose each one, so you are never paying for filler you did not want. Nothing arrives wrapped in plastic: orders are packed by hand in paper and card.
The 3D printed things
Some of what we make is 3D printed, in PLA. PLA is made from plant starch rather than oil, but it is still a plastic: it will not break down in a home compost heap and it cannot go in your kerbside recycling. We would rather say that plainly than dress it up.
What we can do is take it back. Send any of our printed pieces back when your children are finished with them, in any condition, and we grind them down and re-extrude them into filament for new prints. It is not a closed loop, and we explain the limits of that on the take-back page, but it is better than a bin.
Where we are going
The aim is simple: every product either lasts, or goes back into something else. We are not there on all of it yet, and we will keep saying which is which rather than putting a leaf on the label and hoping.
