Send your prints back when you're done
Our 3D printed toys are PLA. PLA cannot go in your kerbside recycling and it will not break down in a garden compost heap, so rather than leave you with that problem, we take it back.
How it works
- Email us and we'll reply with the address to send it to. We charge nothing to take it back; you cover the postage, which for a small print is usually second-class stamp money.
- Post back any 3D printed piece you bought from us, in any condition. Broken is fine; that is rather the point.
- We sort it, grind it and re-extrude it into filament for new prints. Anything too contaminated to reprocess goes to an industrial composting facility that accepts PLA.
What we can take
- Any 3D printed item from us: keyrings, crowns, wands, fidgets, toppers.
- Printed items from elsewhere, if you know they are PLA. If you are not sure, send them anyway and we will check.
What we cannot take
- Other plastics: ABS, PETG, resin prints. We have no way to reprocess these.
- Anything with batteries, magnets or glued-in metal.
Being straight with you
Reprocessing PLA at our scale is mechanical: grinding and re-extruding. Each cycle shortens the polymer chains a little, so a given batch cannot be recycled indefinitely, perhaps a handful of times before it is only fit for composting. It is better than landfill, and it is not a closed loop. We would rather say so than imply otherwise.
